Recommended daily dose: AdultPneumonia, UTI, gynecological, skin & skin structure infections 500 mg IV. Nosocomial pneumonia, peritonitis, suspected infections in neutropenic patients & septicemia 1 g IV. Meningitis 2 g IV. Childn >3 mth to 12 yr 10-20 mg/kg depending on the type & severity of infection, susceptibility of the pathogens, & condition; >50 kg body wt Adult dose. Meningitis 40 mg/kg. All doses are to be administered 8 hrly.
