Anastrozole
Indications/Uses
Advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women w/ hormone receptor positive or hormone receptor unknown locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult (including elderly) 1 tab once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Premenopausal women. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min). Moderate or severe hepatic disease. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Women w/ or at risk of osteoporosis; assess bone mineral density at the commencement of treatment & at regular intervals thereafter. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Not recommended for use in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Hot flushes; asthenia; arthralgia/joint stiffness, arthritis; headache; nausea; rash. Vag dryness & bleeding; hair thinning, allergic reactions; diarrhoea, vomiting; somnolence, carpal tunnel syndrome, sensory disturbances (eg, paraesthesia, taste loss & perversion); increased in alkaline phosphatase/alanine aminotransferase/aspartate aminotransferase; anorexia, hypercholesterolaemia; bone pain, myalgia.
Drug Interactions
Pharmacological action may be antagonized w/ oestrogen-containing therapies & diminished w/ tamoxifen.
