Zol Indications/Uses

Treatment and prophylaxis of infections which are may be due to anaerobic bacteria, especially Bacteroides species, incl, Bacteroides fragilis, Fusobacterium and Clostridium species.
The treatment is effective in cases of: Infections of the C.N.S. (eg, brain abscess, meningitis), Infections of the lung and pleura (eg, necrotising pneumonia, aspiration pneumonia, lung abscess), Endocarditis, Vincent's Infections, After operations (eg, recto-colonic surgery) and infections of the G.I. tract., Suppurating disease in the abdominal and pelvic area (peritonitis, liver abscess), Pelvic infections occurring after hysterectomy, caesarian section, puerperal infection, endometritis, septic abortion, Gas gangrene, Osteomyelitis, Septicaemia in thrombophlebitis, Severe form of intestinal and hepatic amoebiasis.
A prophylactic use is always indicated in operations with a high risk of anaerobic infections (gynaecologic and intraabdominal operations).
