Nalbuphine HCl
Indications/Uses
Relief of moderate to severe pain & as adjunct to anesth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC/IM/IV Adult weighing 70 kg 10 mg, may be repeated every 3-6 hr as necessary. Non-tolerant patient Max: 20 mg. Max total daily dose: 160 mg. Induction of anesth 0.3-3 mg/kg IV over 10-15 min. Maintenance: 0.25-0.5 mg/kg single IV.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Emotionally unstable patients or history of narcotic abuse. Physical dependence. Avoid abrupt discontinuation & prolonged use. Head injury & increased intracranial pressure; bradycardia. Impaired resp, renal or hepatic function. Patients w/ MI & to undergo surgery of the biliary tract. May impair mental or physical abilities required to perform potentially dangerous tasks eg, driving or operating machinery. Women delivering premature infants. Pregnancy. Childn & neonate.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation; sweaty, clammy, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, vertigo, dry mouth, headache.
Drug Interactions
May exhibit additive effect w/ narcotic analgesic, general anesth, phenothiazines or other tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics or other CNS depressants including alcohol.
