Each mL contains: Carbocisteine 50 mg.
Each 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) contains: Carbocisteine 100 mg.
Each capsule contains: Carbocisteine 500 mg.
Absorption and Fate: Carbocisteine is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and excreted in the urine as unchanged drug and metabolites.
For the respiratory tract disorders characterized by excessive viscous mucus such as bronchitis, otitis, bronchiectasis, emphysema, rhinitis and rhinopharyngitis.
50 mg/mL Suspension (Oral Drops): Infants: 9-12 months: 1.0 mL; 6-8 months: 0.75 mL; 3-5 months: 0.5 mL; below 2 months: 0.25 mL.
To be taken 3 to 4 times a day or as prescribed by the physician.
100 mg/5 mL Syrup: 2-5 years old: 1 teaspoonful (5 mL); 6-12 years old: 2 teaspoonfuls (10 mL).
Adults: 1-1½ tablespoonfuls (15-22.5 mL).
Every 6 hours or as prescribed by the physician.
Capsule: Adults: One capsule three times a day or as prescribed by the physician.
It should be used with caution in elderly patients with severe respiratory insufficiency or in asthmatic patients.
Nausea, headache, gastric discomfort, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding and skin rash have occasionally occurred with Carbocisteine.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
Shake well before using (Oral Drops).
