Description
Each gram contains: Adapalene 1 mg (0.1% w/w) (as microsphere), Clindamycin Phosphate USP equivalent to Clindamycin 10 mg (1.0% w/w) in an aqueous gel base.
The chemical name of adapalene is 6-[3-(1-adamantyl)-4-methoxyphenyl]-2-naphthoic acid. Adapalene is a white to off-white powder which is soluble in in tetrahydrofuran, sparingly soluble in ethanol, and practically insoluble in water. The molecular formula of adapalene is C8H28O3 and its molecular weight is 412.52.
Clindamycin, a topical antibiotic, is a water-soluble ester of the semi-synthetic antibiotic produced by a 7 (S)-chloro-substitution of the 7 (R)-hydroxyl group of the parent antibiotic, lincomycin. The chemical name of clindamycin phosphate is methyl 7-chloro-6,7,8-trideoxy-6-(1-methyl-trans-4-propyl-L-2-pyrrolidinecarboxamido)-1-thio-L-threo-(alpha)-D-galacto-octapyranoside-2-(dihydrogen phosphate).
