Contents
Dimenhydrinate 40 mg, cinnarizine 20 mg
Indications/Uses
Vertigo symptoms of various origin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 1 tab tid. Duration of treatment: Not to exceed 4 wk.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate, cinnarizine, diphenhydramine or other antihistamines of similar structure. Patients w/ angle-closure glaucoma, convulsions, suspicion of raised ICP, & alcohol abuse or urine retention due to urethroprostatic disorders. Severe renal impairment (CrCl ≤25 mL/min) & hepatic impairment.
Special Precautions
Hypotensive patients; patients w/ conditions that might be aggravated by anticholinergic therapy eg, raised IOP, pyloro-duodenal obstruction, prostatic hypertrophy, HTN, hyperthyroidism or severe CHD; Parkinson's disease. May have minor influence on the ability to drive & use machine. Not recommended during pregnancy. Not to be used during lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Somnolence, headache; dry mouth, abdominal pain.
Drug Interactions
Potentiated effects w/ MAOIs, procarbazine. Potentiates the effects of CNS depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, narcotic analgesics & tranquilizers. Enhance the effects of antihypertensives, ephedrine & anticholinergics eg, atropine & TCAs. Masks the ototoxic symptoms & response to allergic skin test w/ amino glycosidic antibiotics. Concomitant use w/ class Ia & III antiarrhythmics may prolong QT interval.
