Triamcinolone helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems.
Apply Triamcinolone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or longer than instructed by your doctor.
If you have been given a cream, ointment or lotion, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands.
- Clean and dry affected area before application.
- Rub Triamcinolone gently on the skin or scalp until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
- Wash your hands after using.
- Replace the cap of the tube.
Avoid contact with eyes. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.
Triamcinolone must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using this medicine until your skin problem is controlled. If you will be using Triamcinolone for a long time, do not stop using it suddenly as this may worsen your condition. Your doctor may want to reduce the dose of Triamcinolone gradually before stopping it completely.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to a child.
Do not apply Triamcinolone on your face, groin, or armpits unless instructed by your doctor to do so.
If you are using an occlusive dressing, monitor for infection. Inform your doctor immediately for signs of infection (e.g. inflammation, swelling, fever, discharge, pain, foul odour).
If you will be using this medicine for a long time on a large skin area, your doctor needs to monitor your condition and check your response to the medication regularly.
Triamcinolone may cause any of the following side effects: burning, itching, irritation, drying, softening, and thinning of the skin.
Other side effects include any of the following: small red bumps around hair follicles, excessive hair growth and changes in skin tone.
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop using the medicine and inform your doctor quickly. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Let your doctor know if you are using any other creams, ointment, lotions or other medicines on the affected area.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Do not allow to freeze and avoid exposure to too much heat.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
