Menthol is used on its own or together with other medicines to help relieve sore throat and cough and help clear blocked airways.
Take Menthol exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Menthol is available on its own or together with other medicines as lozenge or oral solution or syrup.
If you are taking an oral solution or syrup, shake the bottle well before you take it to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.
If you are taking the lozenge, suck the lozenge and repeat as desired until it completely dissolves. Do not swallow.
Menthol may also be available in other drug formulations in some countries, it is best to discuss with your doctor or pharmacist on how you should take this medicine.
If your symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
You may stop taking this medicine when you have no more symptoms of sore throat, cough, and blocked nose.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Do not take Menthol if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or any other medicine combined with Menthol, such as amylmetacresol.
Inform your doctor if you have persistent cough which is associated with smoking, asthma or lung disease.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Menthol to a child. Children taking lozenge may be at risk of choking.
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop taking Menthol and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
