Contraindications
Methotrexate is contraindicated in: Patients with significantly impaired renal function (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min) for methotrexate doses <100 mg/m2, and moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 60 ml/min) for methotrexate doses >100 mg/m2 (see Dosage & Administration).
Patients with significantly impaired hepatic function: Patients with pre-existing blood dyscrasias, such as significant marrow hypoplasia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia or anaemia.
Patients with active infections: Patients with overt or laboratory evidence of immunodeficiency syndrome(s).
Methotrexate is contraindicated in pregnancy (see Use in Pregnancy & Lactation).
Because of the potential for serious adverse reactions from methotrexate in breast fed infants, breast feeding is contraindicated in women taking methotrexate (see Use in Pregnancy & Lactation).
Patients with a known allergic hypersensitivity to methotrexate or any of the other ingredients should not receive methotrexate.
