Per mL Tetrahydrozoline HCl 0.4 mg, antazoline HCl 0.5 mg
Indications/Uses
Non-infectious irritative conjunctivitis, allergic-inflammatory conjunctival affections, hay fever & conjunctivitis vernalis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 1 drop every 3 hr during acute phase. Maintenance therapy Apply 1 drop bd-tds. Childn 1-2 drops daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs.
Special Precautions
Not to be used in patients w/ dry eyes. Patients w/ diabetes, HTN, hyperthyroidism & elevated thyroid hormone conc, arrhythmias or tachycardia & phaeochromocytomas; rhinitis sicca. Patients at risk of or w/ angle-closure glaucoma. Remove contact lens prior to application & wait 15 min before reinsertion. May affect ability to drive or operate machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly w/ CV disease.
Adverse Reactions
Burning & stinging sensation in eyes, iris exfoliation, mydriasis, blurred vision, acute, chronic & acute follicular conjunctivitis, dry eyes, conjunctival congestion, ocular hyperaemia, angle-closure glaucoma; headache, somnolence, drowsiness, dizziness, tremor & central excitation; angina pectoris, HTN & tachycardia; sweating.
Drug Interactions
Hypertensive crisis w/ MAOIs. Enhanced sedating effects of CNS depressants eg, alcohol, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives & antipsychotics. Additive anti-muscarinic action w/ other antimuscarinic drugs eg, atropine & some antidepressants (both tricyclics & MAOIs). HTN, severe headache, seizures & psychosis w/ bromocriptine. Possible severe HTN w/ digitalis, β-adrenergic blockers, guanethidine, reserpine, methyldopa or antihypertensive agents. Provoked or worsened ventricular arrhythmias w/ cyclopropane & halogenated anesth agents eg, chloroform, halothane, enflurane or isoflurane.
