Seizures, acute renal failure, coma, confusional state, vertigo and hallucination have been reported with mefenamic acid overdoses. Overdose has led to fatalities.
For oral formulations: Patients should be managed by symptomatic and supportive care following an NSAID overdose. There are no specific antidotes. Following acute overdosage, emesis, and/or gastric lavage, and/or activated charcoal may be considered dependent upon amount ingested and time since ingestion. Vital functions should be monitored and supported. Hemodialysis is of little value since mefenamic acid and its metabolites are firmly bound to plasma proteins.
