Romosozumab
Indications/Uses
Severe osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fracture.
Dosage/Direction for Use
210 mg SC inj once mthly for 12 doses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Uncorrected hypocalcaemia.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if anaphylactic or other clinically significant allergic reaction occurs. Not to be initiated in patients who have had MI or stroke w/in preceding yr. Not to be inj into tender, bruised, red or hardened skin areas. Osteonecrosis of the jaw; atypical femoral fractures. Immunogenicity. Correct hypocalcaemia, assess for CV risks & perform dental exam w/ preventive dentistry prior to treatment. Ensure adequate Ca & vit D supplementation. Severe renal impairment or patients receiving dialysis. Not to be used in women of childbearing potential. Pregnancy & lactation. Paed.
Adverse Reactions
Viral URTI; arthralgia. Hypersensitivity, rash, dermatitis; headache; cough; neck pain, muscle spasms; peripheral oedema, inj site reactions eg, pain, erythema.
