Per g Oxytetracycline 30 mg, hydrocortisone 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Steroid-responsive dermatoses w/ bacterial infections eg, superficial pyogenic infections, pyoderma pustular dermatitis, & infections associated w/ minor burns or wounds (under close supervision). Atopic dermatitis including allergic eczema, both disseminated & circumscribed neurodermatitis, pruritus w/ lichenification, eczematoid dermatitis, food & infantile eczema. Contact dermatitis due to plants, drugs, cosmetics, clothing material, & miscellaneous substances. Only for infected dermatitis or those showing secondary infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
After thorough cleansing of the affected skin areas, a small amount of the oint should be applied gently 2-4 times daily. May be applied on sterile gauze & kept in continuous contact w/ the affected area when actual infection is present.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute herpes simplex vaccinia, & varicella; skin TB, skin fungal disease.
Special Precautions
Not for ophth use. Discontinue & institute appropriate therapy if irritation develops. Concomitant use w/ other antibiotics may result in overgrowth of resistant organisms eg, Candida & Staphylococci. Appropriate measure should be taken if new infections due to non susceptible bacteria or fungi appear during therapy. Should not be used extensively on pregnant patients, in large amounts or for prolonged periods of time. May increase corticosteroid systemic absorption in childn & infants if extensive areas are treated, or if occlusive technique is used.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform, eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria.
