Contents
Cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Action
Cetirizine is a selective H1 receptor antihistamine with a low sedative effect in pharmacologically active doses and has additional properties as anti-allergenic. Cetirizine inhibits histamine release in the initial phase and reduces inflammatory cell migration.
Indications/Uses
For treatment of perennial rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & children >12 yr 1 cap once daily.
Overdosage
Drowsiness may arise in the application of 50 mg in a single dose. Agitation may occur in children.
Contraindications
Pregnant and breastfeeding women. Infant and children less than 2 years old. Severe kidney disease. Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Adverse Reactions
Cetirizine has weak and temporary side effects, among others: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, dry mouth, and gastric discomfort. In some individuals, hypersensitivity reactions may occur, including skin reactions and angioedema.
Drug Interactions
Concentrations of Cetirizine dihydrochloride plasma are not affected by concomitant administration with Cimetidine. There was no interaction in the experiment after administration of Cetirizine dihydrochloride together with Diazepam. Do not give together with alcohol, it may cause potentiation of Cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Storage
Store in the temperature below 30°C in a tight close container. Keep away from sunlight.
