Erythromycin
Indications/Uses
Acne vulgaris, especially in the form of inflammation w/ papules & pustules.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply twice daily, in the morning & night.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Avoid contact w/ eyes, nose, mouth, & other mucous membranes. May cause cumulative irritation. Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, skin dryness, peeling, oily sensation. Ophth irritation. Urticaria (need systemic steroid treatment).
Drug Interactions
Medicated or abrasive soap/cosmetic. Peeling agent-containing prep or cleanser eg, benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, sulfur. Topical prep containing alcohol eg, after-shave lotion, astringent, perfumed toiletries, shaving cream/lotion. Cosmetic/soap w/ drying properties.
