Trifarotene is used to treat acne (also known as pimple).
Apply Trifarotene exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or over a larger area than instructed by your doctor.
If you are using Trifarotene cream for the first time, remove the cap and press the pump several times (up to a maximum of 10 times) until a small amount is dispensed.
To use the cream, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands.
- Clean and dry the affected area before application.
- Apply a thin layer of cream over the entire affected area.
- Wash your hands after each application.
- Replace the cap of the pump.
Avoid any contact with your eyes, eyelids or lips. If accidental contact occurs, immediately rinse your eyes or lips with water. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.
It may be necessary for you to use this medicine for some time. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the severity of your condition and your response to the medication.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you often forget to apply your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not use Trifarotene if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby soon. If you become pregnant while being treated with this medicine, alert your doctor immediately. Trifarotene may cause harm to your unborn child. You must use proven birth control methods while using this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you have eczema (a skin condition characterised by patches of red and itchy skin).
Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Trifarotene to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects.
Do not apply on skin that is broken, sunburned, inflamed or irritated skin.
Avoid waxing as a method to remove hair on the treated skin.
Trifarotene may cause any of the following side effects: burning or stinging sensation, scaling, itching, drying, and reddening of the skin.
This medicine may also make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Apply sunscreen when going outdoors and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and UV lamps.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are using any other products on the affected area such as other medicines for pimples or cosmetics.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect from heat.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
