Indications/Uses
Cutaneous treatment of acne vulgaris of the face &/or the trunk in patients ≥12 yr, when many comedones, papules & pustules are present.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected areas of the face & all affected areas of the trunk once daily, in the evening, on a clean & dry skin. 1 pump actuation should be enough to cover the face, 2 pump actuations for the upper trunk, 1 additional pump actuation for middle & lower back if acne is present. >4 pump actuations per day is not recommended.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Woman planning pregnancy or during pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Use a moisturizer as frequently as needed from the initiation of Aklief treatment. Discontinue if hypersensitivity reactions occur. Redness, peeling, dryness, & stinging/burning may be experienced. Do not use on cuts, scrapes, abraded or eczematous skin. Avoid contact w/ the eyes, eyelids, lips, or mucous membranes. Wash hands immediately after applying the cream. Caution when applying to sensitive areas of the skin eg, neck or armpits. Exercise caution when applied at the same time as other skin prep including cosmetics. Do not use waxing as a depilatory method on skin treated w/ Aklief. Do not use on sunburned skin. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight, including sunlamps or phototherapy during treatment. If nevertheless the face, chest, shoulders or back become sunburned, stop medication on the affected area until skin is healed. Contains propylene glycol. Nursing women should not apply Aklief to the chest or breast area. Do not use in childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Application site irritation, pruritus (itch), sunburn.
Drug Interactions
Risk of additive irritant effects w/ cosmetics or acne medications w/ peeling, irritant or drying effects.
