Chlorhexidine digluconate.

Mouthwash: 0.2% w/v Chlorhexidine Digluconate (equivalent 1.0% v/v Chlorhexidine Digluconate Solution Ph Eur).
Spray: The spray contains Chlorhexidine Digluconate 0.2% w/v (equivalent 1.0% v/v Chlorhexidine Digluconate Solution Ph Eur) as the active ingredient.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Mouthwash: Typical excipients include ethanol, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, sorbitol, flavour and water.
Spray: Also contains ethanol 7.0% v/v, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, sorbitol, peppermint oil and water.

Chlorhexidine Digluconate is active against a wide range of mouth bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses and hence is effective in the treatment of many common dental conditions.

Corsodyl is an antibacterial solution which inhibits the formation of dental plaque.
It can be used as an aid to: Treat and prevent gingivitis; Maintain mouth hygiene; Promote gum healing after dental surgery or treatment; Manage recurring aphthous ulceration; Manage oral thrush and denture stomatitis.

Do not exceed the stated dose.
Children under 12 years of age should not use the product unless recommended by a healthcare professional.
Mouthwash: Fill the cap to the 10 ml line.
Twice daily, thoroughly rinse the mouth with 10 ml Corsodyl for about one minute, then spit out.
When treating mouth ulcers or oral thrush, continue use for 2 days after clinical resolution.
When treating denture sore mouth, dentures should also be cleansed and soaked in solution for 15 minutes twice daily. If the patient is having dental surgery, rinse as directed by the dentist.
Spray: Remove cap and fit the pump head to the top of the bottle.
Normal Use: Corsodyl spray should be applied as required to the tooth and gingival surfaces, ulcers or other sore areas, using up to a maximum of twelve actuations of the spray (0.14 ml / actuation) twice daily. The spray should be applied once in the morning and once in the evening.
Treatment of gingivitis: A course of about one month is advisable.
Aphthous ulceration and oral candidal infections: Treatment should be continued for 48 hours after clinical resolution.
Denture stomatitis: the dentures should be cleaned and then sprayed with Corsodyl spray.
Remove pump head after use and replace cap.
If symptoms persist, stop using and consult the dentist.

Due to the alcohol, ingestion of large amounts by children requires attention and seek medical advice for appropriate action.

Do not use if allergic to Chlorhexidine Digluconate or any of the other ingredients.

Some toothpaste can stop Corsodyl from working. Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water and wait 5 minutes after brushing the teeth before using the product, or use it at a different time of day.
Do not use anywhere other than in the mouth. Keep out of the eyes and ears. If contact occurs wash out promptly and thoroughly with water.
For oral (external) use only.
Temporary staining of the teeth and tongue may occur. The stain is not permanent and can largely be prevented by reducing the consumption of foods or drinks that may stain such as tea, coffee or red wine. The staining may be controlled with brushing but in some cases professional cleaning may be necessary.
In case of soreness, swelling, or irritation of the mouth, stop using the product and consult a healthcare professional.
Allergy Alert: This product may cause a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms may include: wheezing/difficulty breathing, shock, facial swelling, hives, rash. If an allergic reaction occurs, stop use and seek medical help right away.
The patient may notice a change of taste, tingling or burning sensation in the first use. This usually goes away with continued use. However if it continues consult a healthcare professional.
Spray: Avoid bleaching fabrics which have been in contact with the spray, as brown stains may develop.

No special precautions are needed if the patient is pregnant or breast feeding. But as with all medicines, the patient should consult the doctor or dentist before using Corsodyl.

Isolated report of rash, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face, or difficulty breathing have been received. These may be symptoms of a severe allergic reaction.
Other reactions include coated tongue, dry mouth and burning of the mouth. Isolated reports of discoloration of the teeth and tongue, swelling within the mouth and of the cheek glands and peeling of the lining of the mouth have also been received.

Store below 25°C.
Spray: Protect from light.
