Methylprednisolone aceponate
Indications/Uses
Endogenous eczema (atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis), contact eczema, degenerative, dyshidrotic, vulgar eczema, eczema in childn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly once daily. Do not exceed 12 wk in adults & 4 wk in childn.
Contraindications
Tuberculous or syphilitic processes in the area to be treated; viral diseases (eg, vaccinia, childn-pox, shingles). Large-area or prolonged use. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Additional, specific therapy is required in bacterially infected skin diseases &/or in fungal infections. Switch to oint if skin dries out excessively under protracted use of cream. Do not allow to come into contact w/ the eyes when being applied to the face. Do not apply to the face if rosacea or perioral dermatitis is present. Keep duration of use as brief as possible on treatment of large areas.
Adverse Reactions
Local concomitant symptoms eg, itching, burning, erythema or vesiculation; skin atrophy, telangiectasias, formation of striae or acneiform skin conditions.
