Chemotherapy- & RT-induced nausea & vomiting Adult Emetogenic chemotherapy: 8 mg by slow IV immediately before treatment or orally 1-2 hr before treatment, followed by 8 mg orally 12 hrly. To protect against delayed emesis after 1st 24 hr: Continue Zetron orally w/ 8 mg bid for up to 5 days after a course of treatment. Highly emetogenic chemotherapy: A single dose of 8 mg by slow IV immediately before chemotherapy, or 8 mg by slow IV immediately before chemotherapy, followed by 2 further IV doses of 8 mg 2-4 hr apart, or by a constant infusion of 1 mg/hr for up to 24 hr. Alternatively, a single dose of 32 mg diluted in 50-100 mL of saline & infused over not <15 min immediately before chemotherapy. To protect against delayed emesis after the 1st 24 hr: Continue Zetron orally w/ 8 mg bid for up to 5 days after a course of treatment.
Childn Single dose of 5 mg/m
2 IV immediately before chemotherapy, then 4 mg orally 12 hr later. Continue w/ 4 mg orally bid for up to 5 days after a course of treatment.
Post-op nausea & vomiting Adult Prevention: A single dose of 4 mg slow IV at induction of anesth or a single dose of 16 mg orally 1 hr prior to anesth. Treatment: A single dose of 4 mg IM or slow IV inj.
