Ofloxacin
Indications/Uses
Resp tract, GIT, GUT, eyes, nose & throat, skin & soft tissue infections, otitis media, UTI; bones & joints infections; septicaemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
300-600 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. Lower & uncomplicated UTI 200 mg in single or 2 divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Avoid antacids or supplements containing Fe or Zn w/in 2 hr before or after ofloxacin. Ensure adequate hydration.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Childn <18 yr. Pregnancy, lactation.
Special Precautions
Severe renal disorders, CNS disorders, severe cerebral arteriosclerosis or epilepsy.
Adverse Reactions
Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, gastric discomfort, headache, dizziness, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
Antacids may reduce absorption.
