Mupirocin
Indications/Uses
Primary & secondary bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria including conditions eg, impetigo, secondarily infected traumatic lesions, burns, cellulites, chronic leg ulcer & exudative venous ulcers. Prophylaxis of catheter exit-site infections & antibiotic prophylaxis of skin surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply to the affected area tid for 5-14 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Moderate or severe renal impairment. Do not apply to broken skin or mucus membranes, extensive open wounds or to burns. Not for ophth, oral or intravag use. Avoid using large amounts & over large areas of the body. Discontinue if irritation develops. Prolonged use. Conditions which augment systemic absorption. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, stinging or pain. Itching. Rash, nausea, erythema, dry skin, tenderness, swelling, contact dermatitis & increased exudate.
