Indications/Uses
NIDDM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 2.5 mg daily, increasing by 2.5 mg every 3-5 days until diabetic control is obtained. Max daily dose: 15 mg. Max single dose: 10 mg.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
IDDM. Patients w/ ketoacidosis, severe infections, stress, trauma. Severe renal, hepatic or thyroid impairment. Acute porphyria.
Special Precautions
Elderly. Excessive exercise. Hypoglycemia.
Adverse Reactions
Cholestatic jaundice. Allergic dermatologic & hematologic reactions. GI disturbances, metallic taste. Headache, dizziness, paresthesia.

Drug Interactions
Potentiation of hypoglycemia by chloramphenicol, sulfonamides, coumarin, NSAIDs, salicylates, clofibrate & cimetidine. Hypoglycemic effect decreased by rifampicin, thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, OC & β-blockers.
