Amoxicillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Resp tract, skin & soft tissue infections, UTI, gonorrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 250-500 mg tid. Childn 50-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Infectious mononucleosis.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Renal impairment. Lymphatic leukemia.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, blood disorders, superinfections.
Drug Interactions
Probenecid prolongs plasma t½ of amoxicillin. Allopurinol increases incidence of skin rashes. Reduces effectiveness of OC.
