Indications/Uses
Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, RA, spondyloarthropathies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Ulcerative colitis Adult 2 tab tid to qid. Maintenance: 1 tab qid. Childn >6 yr 40-60 mg/kg/day in 3-6 divided doses. Maintenance: 30 mg/kg/day in 4 divided doses. Crohn's disease 2-4 tab tid then 1-2 tab tid. RA Initially 500 mg/day in the evening for 1 wk. Increase dose by 1 tab/wk thereafter. Max: 3 g/day. Spondyloarthropathies Adult & elderly Initially 500 mg/day, may be increased by 500 mg/wk until reaching max 3 g/day.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sulfonamide or salicylate. Infants <2 mth. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Hepatic or renal impairment, blood dyscrasia, G6PD deficiency.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea/vomiting, headache, raised temp, erythema, pruritis.
Drug Interactions
Reduce absorption of digoxin.
