Therapeutic segment: Hematinic containing Iron Polymaltose Complex for correction of anemia and also for prophylactic use.
Pharmacology: Orofer capsules contain Iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex which is a non-ionic source. Due to rapid absorption. It's high rate of Iron utilization, effective hemoglobin production by IPC and well tolerated. Orofer becomes a good preparation for iron deficiency anemia. Unlike ferrous salts where disturbances due to G.I. intolerance is very common, IPC in Orofer is well tolerated by G.I. tract and hence increase patient compliance. After 3 months of treatment, both IPC and ferrous salts yield equal results. Orofer capsule is used to correct iron deficiency anemia and nutritional anemia that occurs especially during pregnancy and lactation. Being non-ionic iron, IPC in Orofer capsules dose not release free radicals unlike other iron salts. Orofer capsules can be taken either before or after meals. Folic acid is a member of Vitamin B group, which is essential for DNA synthesis. Folic acid deficiency is an important cause of anemia. The requirements of folic acid are increased during pregnancy. Folic acid is very important in the prevention of many chronic diseases and neural tube defects in newborn.
