Indications/Uses

Dosage/Direction for Use
Gonorrhea 800 mg single dose. Acute uncomplicated UTI 200 mg bid. Recurrent/complicated UTI 400 mg bid. GI infections 400 mg bid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. Ensure adequate hydration. Do not take w/ dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Infants & prepubertal childn. Pregnancy, lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment, epilepsy; CNS damage.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, muscular weakness. Rarely, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, convulsions, photosensitivity, crystalluria (high doses).
Drug Interactions
Antacids may reduce absorption. Probenecid reduces excretion. May potentiate effects of oral anticoagulant, phenytoin, theophylline.
