24 light brown tab Gestodene 60 mcg, ethinyl estradiol 15 mcg, plus 4 placebo green tab
Indications/Uses
OC. Acne in women.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 light brown tab daily on the 1st day of menstrual bleeding for 24 days followed by 1 green tab daily for 4 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Active or history of cancer, endometrial carcinoma, neoplasia, cardiac insufficiency, cerebrovascular & hepatic disease, jaundice, thrombophlebitis, uterine bleeding. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Liver disease, risk of thrombosis; history of vein inflammation, depression; overwt symptoms, diabetes, high BP, hyperlipidemia, smoking, advancing age, epilepsy, migraine, cardiac or renal dysfunction. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Absence of w/drawal bleeding; headache or migraine; worsening or exacerbation of HTN; abdominal cramps; breast pain, tenderness & swelling; dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weakness; wt gain; loss or increased body or facial hair, increased skin sensitivity to sun.
Drug Interactions
Antiepileptics eg, phenytoin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, topiramate; antibacterials eg, rifampicin; antivirals eg, ritonavir; antibiotics eg, penicillins, tetracyclines, griseofulvin; St. John's wort.
