Ketotifen hydrogen fumarate

Indications/Uses

Long-term prevention of bronchial asthma, allergic bronchitis, asthmatic symptoms associated w/ hay fever. Prevention & treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic skin reactions. Not effective for aborting established attacks of asthma.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Tab Adult 1 tab bid. May be initially ½ tab for 1st wk & titrated up to 2 tab bid. Syr Childn >3 yr 0.025-0.125 mg/kg bid. Childn weighing >36 kg 1 mg bid, 26-35 kg 0.8 mg bid, 19-25 kg 0.6 mg bid, 14-18 kg 0.4 mg bid.

Administration

Should be taken with food.

Adverse Reactions

Sedation; dry mouth; dizziness; wt gain.

Drug Interactions

May potentiate effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamine & alcohol. Rare cases of fall in thrombocyte count w/ oral hypoglycemics.
