Primary hypercholesterolemia, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, reducing total cholesterol, LDL-C, Apo B. Slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Adjunct therapy to diet in heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Prevention of primary CV events including stroke & CHD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 5-10 mg once daily. May be adjusted to 20-40 mg, if needed.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Active liver disease, severe renal impairment, & myopathy. Patients receiving concomitant cyclosporin. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
History of liver disease & excessive alcohol consumption. Predisposing factor of myalgia, myopathy, or rhabdomyolysis. Severe renal impairment & hypothyroidism.
