Gentamicin sulfate

Indications/Uses

Septicemia, UTI, GIT & resp tract infections, skin & soft tissue.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IV/IM Adult Moderate infection 3 mg/kg/day in 3 equal doses or 8 hrly. Serious infection 5 mg/kg/day in 3-4 equal doses. Childn 2-2.5 mg/kg/day 8 hrly.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Impaired renal function. Pregnancy. Parkinsonism.

Adverse Reactions

Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, neuromuscular blockade, superinfections.

Drug Interactions

Acyclovir, cephalosporins, colistin, polymyxin B, vancomycin, neuromuscular blockers, other aminoglycosides, nephrotoxic, neurotoxic or ototoxic drugs.
