Indications/Uses

Dosage/Direction for Use
Acute uncomplicated UTI 200 mg. Recurrent or complicated UTI 400 mg. GIT infections 400 mg. To be taken bid. Gonorrhea 800 mg single dose.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. Ensure adequate hydration. Do not take w/ dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Infants & prepubertal childn. Pregnancy, lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment, epilepsy; CNS damage.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, muscular weakness. Rarely, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, convulsions, photosensitivity, crystalluria (high doses).
Drug Interactions
Antacids may reduce absorption. Probenecid reduces excretion. May potentiate effects of oral anticoagulant, phenytoin, theophylline.
