Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate
Indications/Uses
In combination w/ other antiretrovirals for HIV-1 infection. HBV infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
300 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ hepatic disease. Closely monitor renal function in patients w/ renal impairment. Patients w/ CrCl <50 mL/min. Discontinue in case of lactic acidosis & severe hepatomegaly w/ steanosis. Not used as monotherapy in HIV infection.
Adverse Reactions
Chest pain, anxiety, headache, pain, fever, insomnia, rash including maculopapular, pustular or vesiculobullous rash, urticaria. GI disturbance eg, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Lactic acidosis, hepatitis, increased liver enzymes.
Drug Interactions
Didanosine, adefovir, dabigatran etexilate, vincristine. May increase conc of aminoglycosides, darunavir, didanosine, ganciclovir-valganciclovir. Conc may be increased by acyclovir-valacyclovir, adefovir, atazanavir, NSAIDs.
