Recombinant human FSH (follitropin)
Indications/Uses
Female infertility in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation to induce the development of multiple follicles in medically assisted reproduction program.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Women undergoing ovarian stimulation for multiple follicular development prior to in vitro fertilization or other assisted reproductive technologies Hyperovulation 150-300 IU daily SC/IM commencing on days 2-5 of the cycle. Treatment is continued until adequate follicular development has been achieved w/ dose adjusted according to patients' response. Anovulation (including PCOD), alternatively intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Tumors of the ovary, breast, uterus, hypothalamus or pituitary gland. Undiagnosed vag bleeding, primary ovarian failure, ovarian cysts or enlarged ovaries not related to polycystic ovarian disease. Malformations of the sexual organs & fibroid tumors of the uterus incompatible w/ pregnancy. Presence of uncontrolled nongonadal endocrinopathies. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Ectopic pregnancies. Discontinue if unwanted ovarian hyperstimulation.
Adverse Reactions
Unwanted ovarian hyperstimulation, local inj site reactions, ectopic or multiple pregnancies, thromboembolism.
