Carbocysteine lysine monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment of acute & chronic disorders of upper & lower resp tract eg, COPD. Prevention of acute exacerbations associated w/ chronic obstructive bronchitis. ENT disorders eg, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis, sinusitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Adult 30 mL once daily or 15 mL bid. Childn >5 yr 5 mL bid, 1-5 yr 2.5 mL bid. May be increased to tid in adult & childn. Sachet Adult 1 sachet/day. May be used by diabetics.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Sachet: Dissolve contents in ½ glass of water & drink.
Contraindications
Gastric or duodenal ulcer. Phenylketonuria (sachet contains aspartame).
Special Precautions
Diabetic patients (syr). Childn (sachet). Pregnancy (1st trimester), lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea, mild to moderate & transient dizziness.
