Clopidogrel bisulfate
Indications/Uses
Recent MI, ischaemic stroke or established peripheral arterial disease, acute coronary syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 75 mg once daily. Acute coronary syndrome Initiate w/ a single 300 mg loading dose then continue at 75 mg once daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Severe liver impairment; active pathological bleeding eg, peptic ulcer or intracranial haemorrhage. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Patients at risk of increased bleeding from trauma, surgery or other pathological conditions. Discontinue 7 days prior to elective surgery & if an antiplatelet is not desired. Renal impairment. Patient w/ moderate hepatic disease who may have bleeding diatheses. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Pregnancy. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Haemorrhagic disorder eg, GI bleeding, purpura/bruising/haematoma, epistaxis, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, ASA, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors, NSAIDs, heparin, thrombolytics.

B01AC04 - clopidogrel ; Belongs to the class of platelet aggregation inhibitors excluding heparin. Used in the treatment of thrombosis.
