Indications/Uses
Septicemia, meningitis, bacterial endocarditis, resp tract infections; ENT, GUT infections, abdominal infections; bone, joints, soft tissue & skin infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 1-2 g 12 hrly. Infant & childn <12 yr 50-100 mg/kg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Impaired renal function; penicillin-sensitive patients.
Adverse Reactions
GI effects, pain at inj site, phlebitis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hemolytic anemia.
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, potent diuretics & probenecid.
