Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Rapid symptomatic management of pain & fever. Mild to moderate pain & for pyrexia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 6-12 yr 250-500 mg up to qds, 1-5 yr 125-250 mg up to qds.
Contraindications
Severe renal impairment & hepatic disease (viral hepatitis).
Special Precautions
Discontinue use at first appearance of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity. Serious skin reactions eg, acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome & toxic epidermal necrolysis. Impaired kidney or liver function. Patient taking hepatotoxic drug.
Adverse Reactions
Haematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia & agranulocytosis.
