Prophylaxis of tetanus 250 IU IM. Dosage should be doubled in case of anfractuous (dirty deep wounds w/ tissue destruction) or infected wounds or if the injury has occurred >24 hr before, or in adults weighing more than the average. Therapy of clinically manifest tetanus Single dose of 3,000-6,000 IU IM in combination w/ other appropriate clinical procedures.
Do not give intravascularly. Patients w/ IgA deficiency due to antibodies against IgA (very rare). Allergic reaction. Misleading positive results in serological testing. Pregnancy & lactation.
