Dexamethasone
Indications/Uses
Intractable stomatitis or glossitis associated w/ erosion or ulceration.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply adequate amount to the affected area once to several times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ tuberculous, viral or other purulent infections of the oral cavity.
Special Precautions
Do not take food or fluid for a short time after application. Not for ophth use. Consider referral to an ophthalmologist if patient presents w/ symptoms eg, blurred vision or other visual disturbances; risk of central serous chorioretinopathy. Avoid prolonged use in pregnant women or women suspected of pregnancy. Lactation. Prolonged use may be associated w/ growth & development disturbances in infant & childn.
Adverse Reactions
Numbness at the application site. Fungal or bacterial infection of the oral cavity; hypersensitivity; pituitary-adrenocortical system hypofunction w/ prolonged use; blurred vision.
