Beclomethasone dipropionate
Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & treatment of perennial & seasonal allergic rhinitis including hay fever & vasomotor rhinitis. Prevention of recurrence of nasal polyps following surgical removal.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >6 yr 2 sprays into each nostril bd. For some patients, 1 spray into each nostril tds-qds may be preferred. Max: 8 sprays/day.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Infection of the nasal passages & paranasal sinuses. Transferring patient from systemic steroid therapy to nasal steroid therapy. Systemic effects including hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal suppression & growth retardation in childn. Appropriate additional therapy particularly to control eye symptoms in abnormally heavy challenge of summer allergens. Childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dryness, irritation of nose & throat, unpleasant taste & smell, epistaxis, raised IOP or glaucoma are reported rarely.
