Contents
Per mL Dorzolamide HCl 20 mg, timolol maleate 5 mg
Indications/Uses
Elevated IOP in patients w/ ocular HTN, open-angle glaucoma, pseudoexfoliative glaucoma or other secondary open-angle glaucomas when concomitant therapy is appropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) bd. When substituting for another ophth antiglaucoma agent, discontinue the other agent after proper dosing on 1 day & start Cosopt on the next day. If another topical ophth drug is used, administer at <10 min apart.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Reactive airway disease, existing or history of bronchial asthma, severe COPD; sinus bradycardia, 2nd- or 3rd-degree AV block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock.
Special Precautions
History of CV disease including cardiac failure; 1st-degree heart block; resp & cardiac reactions; mild/moderate COPD. Severe peripheral circulatory disturbance/disorders. Masking of hypoglycemic symptoms in DM patients. Masking of clinical signs of hyperthyroidism (eg, tachycardia). Surgical anesth. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min) & hepatic impairment. History of atopy or severe anaphylactic reaction to a variety of allergens. Acute angle-closure glaucoma. Discontinue if signs of serious reactions/hypersensitivity occurs. Low endothelial cell counts. Remove soft contact lenses prior to administration; reinsert after 15 min. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Ocular burning & stinging, taste perversion, corneal erosion, conjunctival inj, blurred vision, tearing & ocular itching.
Drug Interactions
Potential additive effect w/ oral Ca channel blockers, catecholamine-depleting drugs, antiarrhythmics, parasympathomimetics or β-adrenergic blocking agents. Potentiated systemic blockade w/ CYP2D6 inhibitors (eg, quinidine & SRRIs) & timolol. Exacerbation of rebound HTN w/ oral β-adrenergic blocking agents.
