Cetrorelix acetate
Indications/Uses
Prevention of premature ovulation in patients undergoing a controlled ovarian stimulation followed by oocyte pick-up & assisted reproductive techniques.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC 0.25 mg once daily at 24 hr intervals in the morning or evening. Morning dose: Commence on day 5 or 6 of ovarian stimulation (approx 96-120 hr after start of ovarian stimulation) w/ urinary or recombinant gonadotropins. Continue throughout the gonadotropin treatment period including the day of ovulation induction. Evening dose: Commence on day 5 of ovarian stimulation (approx 96-108 hr after start of ovarian stimulation) w/ urinary or recombinant gonadotropins. Continue throughout the gonadotropin treatment period until the evening prior to the day of ovulation induction.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cetrorelix acetate, extrinsic peptide hormones or mannitol. Severe renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Possible allergic/pseudoallergic reactions including life-threatening anaphylaxis w/ the 1st dose. Women w/ signs & symptoms of active allergic conditions or known history of allergic predisposition; do not advise Cetrotide in women w/ severe allergic conditions. Possible ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Administration during repeated ovarian stimulation procedure. Congenital anomalies. Hepatic & renal impairment. No relevant indication for use in childn & elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Mild & transient reactions at inj site (eg, erythema, itching & swelling); severe hypersensitivity reaction associated w/ cough, rash & hypotension; mild to moderate OHSS (WHO grade I or II); abdominal pain, tension, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea & breathing difficulties may indicate OHSS.
Drug Interactions
Possible INT w/ gonadotropins or medicinal products that may induce histamine release in susceptible individuals.
