Possible increased risk of heart attack or stroke more likely w/ doses >2,400 mg daily or prolonged treatment. Patients w/ fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency. Consider in patients w/ diabetes due to sucrose content. History of GI bleeding & perforation. Patients w/ asthma, chronic rhinitis, CV, hepatic or renal diseases, heart failure, uncontrolled high BP (HBP), dehydration. Concomitant treatment w/ medications for HBP, CV diseases & blood thinners. May mask symptoms of underlying infections. Symptoms persisting after several days of treatment; excessive Brufen intake; unusual symptoms including bloody/black tarry/pale stools, vomiting blood/black particles, unexpected wheezing, shortness of breath, skin rash, itching, bruising, racing heart, fluid retention (swollen ankles or passing less urine), stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, disorientation, unexplained stomachache, indigestion, heartburn, tiredness or more frequent infections (eg, colds), yellowing of the eyes. Pregnancy (≥20 wk).
