Indications/Uses
Reduce inflammation & lower body temp. Short-term treatment (max: 3 days) of joint & ligament, muscular, dental, menstrual & acute lower back pain, headache, pain & fever associated w/ flu, sore throat & colds.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥14 yr Initially 2 tab, continue w/ 1 tab every 4-6 hr if needed. Max daily dose: 6 tab. Frail elderly Use the lowest dose. Max: 3 days for pain & fever relief.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac, soya oil, peanut oil. Established heart disease &/or cerebrovascular disease eg, heart attack, stroke, mini-stroke or blockages to blood vessels to heart or brain or an operation to clear or bypass blockages; heart failure. Stomach or GI tract ulcer. Blood/black stools. Peripheral arterial disease. Asthma or wheezing, extensive skin rash or hay fever-like runny nose after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs (eg, ibuprofen). Stroke, bleeding or other bleeding disorders. Blood disorders. Bone marrow abnormalities. Severe liver or kidney disease. Pregnancy ≥20 wk.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ stomach problems or heartburn after taking painkillers or anti-inflammatory; suffers from severe skin reactions, asthma, hay fever or have had long-term problems of resp tract (eg, nasal polyps or chronic obstructive airway diseases); tendency to develop allergic skin diseases, itchy skin or hives; history of GI disease (eg, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease); bleeding disorder or any other blood disorder including porphyria; SLE; dehydration due to sickness, diarrhoea, before or after major surgery; chickenpox; significant risk factors eg, high BP, cholesterol & triglycerides, diabetes, smoking; currently having medical treatment for serious illness. Concomitant use w/ trimethoprim; medicines used for arthritis or other pain relievers (eg, ASA, ibuprofen) or other anti-inflammatory medicines (eg, corticosteroids). Increased risk of heart attack or stroke w/ high doses & prolonged treatment. May reduce symptoms of infection (eg, headache, high temp). Prolonged use can make headaches worse. May worsen wound healing in GUT after surgery in patient recently had or going to have a stomach or intestinal tract surgery. Contains lactose & soya oil. Advise patients not to drive or use machines if vision disorders, dizziness or drowsiness occurs. Patients w/ liver or kidney problems. Pregnancy. Not to be taken during breastfeeding. Childn & adolescents <14 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GUT & stomach pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, indigestion, decreased appetite; headache, dizziness; skin rash; vertigo.
Drug Interactions
Increase risk of bleeding or ulcer w/ corticosteroids, anticoagulants or antiplatelets, SSRIs, other NSAIDs (eg, aspirin & ibuprofen). Decreased absorption w/ colestipol & cholestyramine. Concomitant use w/ lithium, digoxin, diuretics, antihypertensives (eg, ACE inhibitors or β-blockers), oral antidiabetics, MTX, cyclosporine, quinolones, sulfinpyrazone, voriconazole & phenytoin.
