Erdosteine
Indications/Uses
Treatment of acute & chronic bronchopulmonary diseases, rhinosinusitis, laryngopharyngitis or exacerbations of these chronic diseases in association w/ mucus production & transport.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap Adult 1 cap bid. Susp Adult 8.5 mL bid. Childn >12 yr (>30 kg) 5 mL tid (or 7.5 mL bid), 7-12 yr (21-30 kg) 5 mL bid, 2-6 yr (10-20 kg) 2.5 mL bid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to erdosteine or free SH-group containing products. Hepatic disorders & abnormalities, renal insufficiency (CrCl <25 mL/min), homocystinuria, phenylketonuria (due to aspartame content).
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if classical hypersensitivity signs & symptoms appear. Concomitant use w/ anti-cough treatment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Gastric burning, nausea; ageusia or dysgeusia; gastralgia, headache.
Drug Interactions
Increases amoxicillin conc in the resp tract. May induce accumulation of liquefied excreatum w/ anti-cough prep.
