Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 1-4 g (4 g corresponds to 1 tsp) once daily to affected areas of the scalp. Recommended treatment period: 4 wk. Calcipotriol monohydrate: Max daily dose: 15 g. Max wkly dose: 100 g. Max BSA to be treated: 30%.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Erythrodermic, exfoliative & pustular psoriasis. Calcipotriol monohydrate: Patients w/ known disorders of Ca metabolism. Betamethasone dipropionate: Viral lesions of the skin (eg, herpes or varicella), fungal or bacterial skin infections, parasitic infections, skin manifestations in relation to TB, perioral dermatitis, atrophic skin, striae atrophicae, fragility of skin veins, ichthyosis, acne vulgaris, acne rosacea, rosacea, ulcers & wounds.
Special Precautions
Adrenocortical suppression or impact on the metabolic control of DM may occur. Avoid application under occlusive dressings, on large areas of damaged skin, on mucous membranes or in skin folds. Do not use on the skin of the face & genitals. Wash hands after each application to avoid accidental transfer to the face, mouth & eyes. Treat w/ antimicrobiological therapy when lesions become secondarily infected; discontinue if infection worsens. Risk of generalised pustular psoriasis or of rebound effects when discontinuing treatment. Increased risk of local & systemic corticosteroid undesirable effects w/ long-term use. No experience w/ use in guttate psoriasis. Limit or avoid excessive exposure to natural or artificial sunlight. Concomitant use w/ other steroids; other topical anti-psoriatic products at the same treatment area, other anti-psoriatic medicinal products administered systemically or w/ phototherapy. Contains butylated hydroxytoluene (E321) which may cause local skin reactions (eg, contact dermatitis), & eyes & mucous membranes irritation. Severe renal insufficiency or severe hepatic disorders. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr. Calcipotriol monohydrate: Hypercalcaemia may occur if the max wkly dose (100 g) is exceeded.
