Indications/Uses
Acute post-op & postpartum non-obstructive urinary retention; neurogenic atony of the urinary bladder w/ retention.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Usual dose: 10-50 mg tid-qid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1-2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hyperthyroidism, peptic ulcer, latent or active bronchial asthma, pronounced bradycardia or hypotension, vasomotor instability, CAD, epilepsy & parkinsonism; recent urinary bladder surgery, GI resection & anastomosis; bladder & GI obstruction or acute inflammatory lesions of the GIT, spastic GI disturbances, peritonitis; marked vagotonia.
Special Precautions
Reflux infection due to bacteriuria, nausea or vomiting. Dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting may occur. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Malaise; abdominal cramps or discomfort, colicky pain, nausea & belching, diarrhea, borborygmi, salivation; urinary urgency; headache; fall in BP w/ reflex tachycardia, vasomotor response; flushing, sweating; bronchial constriction, asthmatic attacks; lacrimation, miosis.
Drug Interactions
Critical fall in BP may occur w/ ganglion-blocking compd.
