Atorvastatin Ca
Indications/Uses
Primary hypercholesterolemia, heterozygous & homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or combined mixed hyperlipidemia in patients who have not responded adequately to diet & other appropriate measures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 10 mg daily, may be adjusted at intervals of 4 wk up to max of 80 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Avoid excessive consumption (>1 L/day) of grapefruit juice.
Contraindications
Active liver disease, persistent elevation of serum transaminase. Women of childbearing potential. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Immune thrombocytopenia; acute hepatitis; muscle disorders eg, rhabdomyolysis; toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Drug Interactions
Antacids, antipyrine, colestipol, digoxin, OCs.
